Guardian Angel Home
Guardian Angel Home is a long-term residential treatment facility for boys and adolescent males ages 6-18 referred by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). These young men often present significant mental health and behavioral issues, and many have been abused and neglected. Guardian Angel Home meets the social and emotional needs of its residents by providing a structured environment, focusing on behavior modification. Residents are generally DCFS wards who need significantly more structure and treatment than what is available in a foster home placement. Referrals from non-DCFS sources or private pay can be considered on a case by case basis. For eligibility criteria, contact our office at 309.636.7500.
The Guardian Angel program meets basic needs for food, shelter, and safety while providing boundaries, setting limits, enforcing positive rewards, consequences, and establishment of relationships. Services include intake and assessment; treatment and service planning; individual, family and group counseling; case management, including transportation, visitations, and medical, dental, psychiatric services; recreation activities; education; independent-living preparation, including employment and vocational training; medication monitoring; and aftercare services. The program is approved by the Council on Accreditation (COA), licensed by the Illinois DCFS, and Medicaid approved.
As these youth and adolescents complete the program our caseworkers and therapists help to integrate them back into the community in permanent placements.
Guardian Angel also has an Emergency Shelter contract for DCFS male wards in foster care, ages 6-18, for short-term placement while long-term foster care or other placements are arranged. These referrals come to the program through a DCFS field office approval process and are accepted based upon available space and evaluation of presenting behaviors of the referral.
