Adoption
Lao Tzu once said, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” This is your first step to becoming a family through adoption. Welcome.
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Peoria has been coordinating adoptions for over 100 years. We acknowledge adoption as a legal and sacred beginning between an adult and child in need of a family. We recognize that each of us is first, a child of God. As members of God’s family, we place primary importance on the family unit.
Our qualified staff understands the fears commonly involved with adoption. To that end, we are passionately committed to working side by side with you as you prepare for the joys and challenges of adoptive parenting. We will provide outstanding step by step instructions and support services throughout the adoption process. Our focus is to ensure the best interests of the child are met by educating adoptive families on adoption and adoption related issues.
We provide services for clients of all religious affiliations. We are a licensed child welfare agency accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Children and Family Services. We are a member of the Joint Council of International Child Services and have full HAGUE accreditation for International Adoptions.
Adoption can be a wonderful way to add to a family, but it is not for everyone. The qualifications for adoptive parents and costs of adoption vary by program. The waiting time also varies. Click here to learn about the adoption services we offer at Catholic Charities.
Whether you choose the Domestic Infant, International, Adopt Waiting Children or Outreach Adoption Program, once through our program, you will find yourself well prepared for the life long process of adoptive parenting. For more information, please contact an adoption specialist at the office closest to you.
Thank you for considering Catholic Charities Adoption Program.
