Advocacy Efforts
“If you want peace, work for justice.” Pope Paul VI
Catholic Charities respects and defends the dignity of each individual through works of mercy and justice. We see the face of God in everyone we serve – the poor, the elderly, troubled teens and families, abused and neglected children. We believe as a society we are only as strong as the most vulnerable among us.
One of our Core Values is Advocacy - working for the common good and a just society. Catholic Charities has spent decades working with people in need and we know that providing only for the immediate needs of the poor and vulnerable is not enough. We must also be a voice - influencing systems in our society and advocating for social justice at the local, state, federal and international levels for change that will make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
Our mission calls us to empower others to take action as well. As action alerts emerge on critical legislative or social policy issues, we call on our network members to respond by calling, writing, emailing or visiting their state and federal legislators. We are grateful for our committed, responsive and active constituency network. We invite you to join us. Advocate on behalf of social justice issues by contacting your State and U.S. legislators from Diocesan districts. Look up your state legislator. You may also click here to read how you can be notified of important advocacy efforts.
